Birthday Babe diagonal silver glitter rhinestone manicure

by - Thursday, December 20, 2012

These sparkly disco ball nails were inspired by the silver christmas bauble hanging on our tree this year.
It took me a few days to complete this manicure but it was worth it in the end. The photos don't do the shiny awesomeness justice. It looks MUCH better and even more beautiful in the flesh. My photography skills suck.
I just can't stop staring at the shine. If you've been feeling down like I have been lately, I highly recommend a manicure like this. I can't help but smile and feel happy when looking down at these nails.
For this manicure I used OPI 'Birthday Babe' as the base colour. This was the first time I've used this colour as a base, and being honest, I didn't really like it. It's streaky and it shows up scratches even though I used quite a few coatings of top coat. But I think this colour works well for this manicure.

Over the top of Birthday Babe at the tip of my nails I painted silver glitter polish that I got from a $2 store. I used masking tape to get my diagonal lines. For something a little different this time I had the lines running opposite ways on some nails just to mix things up a bit.
This manicure looks great without the rhinestones too, so if you don't have the patience to apply them, you can skip this last step and simplify this manicure. As painstaking as applying the rhinestones were, I couldn't resist adding some silver bling.
So there you have it, my christmas nails for this year. What christmassy colour(s) will you be rocking?
