Alchemy Ylang Ylang Colour Care Shampoo Review
I was given this shampoo as a birthday treat to try out. Given its price, I had very high expectations for this shampoo.
It claims:
"The protective and restorative effect of coconut glutamate is used in this gentle, richly scented botanical hair cleanser to specifically enhance colour treated hair. With continued use your hair will retain its colour richness, softness and manageability. Alchemy products are free from sulfates, parabens, ethoxylated and petrochemical cleansers, propylene glycol, silicones, phthalates, DEA and artificial colours. Alchemy products are ingredient rich, vegan, 100% natural botanical aromatherapy and formulated without animal ingredients or animal testing."
Because this shampoo is sulfate free, it doesn't work into much of a lather. It has a gel like consistency, and because I'm used to a lot of lather, this was a little weird for me. I found it hard to tell if I got the gel right through my hair, and it felt like it wasn't getting a good wash. However, this is a great shampoo for coloured hair and it certainly met all my expectations, and then some.
Immediately after first use I felt the difference. My hair was softer and much more manageable. I noticed that this shampoo helps to keep oiliness at bay for longer too, while preventing that dreaded dryness from colouring.
It boasts a smell similar to that found in the botanical gardens, and is a shampoo that is well worth the price. I definitely recommend it.
My rating: 5/5
