Shabby Chic Saturday: Craft studio progress {part one}
I know I promised you kitchen renovation pictures, but I've had to change my plans. So today you get to see what Chronically Creative HQ looks like at present! It's taking a very long time to get this room sorted, but I'm gradually getting there. Here's how it's looking so far:
I do all my crafting at this desk. When I get things set up better and to how I want them, those drawers are coming out from under the table and I'll be putting the legs back on the table to allow for more room but for now I don't really have the space to do that. The plan is to have shelving above this desk so that all my desk storage can sit on those instead of the desk, which will make so much more room for crafting and it will be super neat and organised. I have the shelves sitting in boxes ready to go. I also have this gorgeous wall shelf which will display all my nail polishes- I am so. flipping. excited. So that's basically the plan for that corner of the room, just hope it actually works out according to plan. Oh, and that ugly chair is definitely not staying. Just sayin'.
This desk is suppose to be a sewing desk, but seeing as I don't know how to sew yet (I will soon, I'm looking into lessons, yay!) it's just a computer desk. When I do start to sew though, I'll have to get another desk that I can permanently have a computer set up at, that way I can just keep my laptop upstairs, but that is like ages away. I used to have my old desk running across this wall:
I really loved this desk but it just wasn't appropriate for crafting. I had to sell it on eBay. It was a sad, sad day that day. OK, so I get far too emotionally attached to furniture, but I know departing with it was for the best.
Now I have this junk sitting in its place because I have no where to store it yet. Well, it's not actually junk even though it may look like it- it's actually all my craft supplies just stashed into random boxes. When I've got all my furniture and shelving set up, I'll be able to get organised.
My wardrobe has moved from one side of the room to the other. The room is much more spacious now.
As you can see, it is filled to the brim. I had full intentions of this wardrobe becoming a craft storage cupboard where I store all my bulky machines and jazz like that, but unfortunately it will now have to double as a wardrobe for my clothes and craft storage as I couldn't fit all my clothes in my wardrobe upstairs, and no, it's not because I have too many clothes... I'll show you why some other time.
And lastly, my pretty dressing table. It looks more like a dumping ground at the moment, but anyhoo. I just have to work out where it's going to fit, but I'm sure I'll find some place for it once everything else is set up.
What I have to do next is figure out where my ikea expedit is going to go. I'm thinking I'm going to have it in the center of the room so it's on show- that way all the gorgeous craft projects and colourful ribbons and flower jars will be on display. So that's the progress so far. Here is a reminder of what this room looked like at the start of this year:
I am making progress baby! Now all I have to do is get everything off the floor and wait for Papa Bear to assemble all my new furniture...
