The Nail Files Thursday- Introduction

by - Thursday, February 03, 2011

Welcome to The Nail Files Thursday! From now onwards most posts on a Thursday will be dedicated to all things nail care and nail art. Are you excited?! I certainly am!

I ventured into the world of all things nail polish and nail art a little over a year ago now. I was looking for something fun and creative to do that would distract me from the pounding pain whilst not causing any extra exhaustion. When I was going through a particularly hard time dealing with my illnesses emotionally a counsellor told me to go and paint my nails. I took their advice and found that I couldn't stop at just slapping on a few coats of paint. It was at that point that I discovered my love of nail art and I've been hooked ever since! I find dabbling in some nail art every couple of weeks or so extremely therapeutic. I often find myself thinking about nail polish. Okay, I will admit, I think about it LOTS! What new nail polish should I try out next? What new designs can I attempt?

It's amazing how a fresh coat of polish can brighten your mood and although this may sound totally ridiculous to some- having nice nails helps me get though the tough times. Whether it's pretty pastel pinks, lovely lavenders or bright hooker red colours; having something pretty to look at when that is the last thing I'm feeling on the inside makes me happy. I love how some of my designs become conversation starters and I delight in compliments from complete strangers in shopping centres.

With a growing nail stamp, nail stickers and rhinestones collection and 50 plus bottles of nail polish and counting, I'm a nail art addict. I love to experiment with different colours and designs and draw inspiration from other nail art bloggers and online tutorials.

The Nail Files are the adventures (and misadventures) of a lacquer lover living creatively despite chronic illness. I may be chronically ill, but I'm also chronically creative.... and it's contagious!

Here's a sneak peak of what's to come
