Shabby Chic Saturday: some craft studio inspiration
I'm so super duper ridiculously excited to announce that I am finally making progress on getting my craft studio set up! So. Freaking. Excited. I'm beside myself, can hardly contain it. If you're a crafter taking over the kitchen table like me, you'll be able to relate.
I went to Ikea today with D (I really do have the best father in the world) and picked out my furniture! The plan was to get it all in one go and get it delivered but we all know how well plans rarely go according to plan. The storage items that I wanted were out of stock. Poo.
Fortunately they had all the desks/table tops that I wanted but I wasn't too keen on having to come back another day for the storage and pay another delivery fee, thank you very much. My choices were to a) wait until all the items were in stock or b) suck it up and pay the two delivery fees.
I didn't want to come home empty handed as I really had my heart set on getting things happening, so I opted for option b but amazingly D managed to squish all the desks and drawer units in the car! Just.
So lucky.
So now all I have to get is some shelving, a bookcase and another drawer unit and pay just the one delivery fee thanks to D! I'm hoping to have the room cleared out and the desks set up this week. Storage isn't overly important at the moment, I'm just glad I'll have some proper crafting space.
I've been busy looking for some craft studio and storage solution inspiration over the past few months. Here's what I've been drooling over:
Oh how I love this room, it's fun, it's colourful and it's so spacious! Unfortunately, I have limited space. It's going to take some genius creativity to make my room functional.

I have table envy. It's big and beautiful. I especially love the craft studio lettering above the window. I'm going to try and do a similar thing above my window and match it with some cupcake curtains!
I love the storage in this room, it's so practical and very well organised. You barely have to move to find something. Definitely would like to achieve a room similar to this.
This is the style I'm going for. This room is the same colour as mine and the furniture is very similar.
Must have this cupboard. I'm on the lookout for one to store all my tools and big bulky machines.
I love pencil pots. My studio will have many.
I love the idea of storing ribbons, buttons and flowers in jars. My supplies will definitely be colour coordinated to make crafting quicker and easier. Right now it takes me 20-30 minutes to find all the supplies I need. Ridiculous.
This is a great space saving idea. I really want my studio to be clutter free. Having tools cluttering the desk wastes crafting space.
To give you an idea of what it will look like here's what I've got/am getting (if you've been wondering why the best buys of the month posts have disappeared here's why!):
This will be my sewing desk. Yes, I am aware I need to learn how to sew. I'm looking into lessons!
I think I'll be using this to store my stamps, glues, and embossing powders.
This will be my crafting/nail art desk:
And this is where I'll be storing paper, ribbon, embellishments and all that jazz. Oh and it will be perfect for displaying my creations!
I've also been thinking about what wall art I should create and what quotes I should feature in my studio. Here's what I've been thinking:
Must have this mug! Adorable, no?
Love me some owls. I just bought the cutest owl stamp. It will be perfect for wall art!
May have lost my shiz when I came across this one! Highly appropriate don't ya think?
Love this!
