pastel coloured heart card

Although Valentine's Day has passed, I still intend on posting a few more projects I've been working on but didn't finish in time to share before the day thanks to a rip roaring headache. And besides, Valentine's crafts can be made and given at anytime of year.

 

Over the weekend just gone I decided to experiment with pretty pastel papers and have a play around with my nifty Cuttlebug machine.

Obviously, I wanted to use the heart as the centrepiece of the card. I cut out a heart from white cardstock and pasted down punched out hearts in pretty pastel colours. As you can see, I started from the outside of the card and worked my way in, overlapping until I filled all of the white cardstock.

 

It took two hours of patience, but I do believe the end result was totally worth it.

Once I had my punched out hearts pasted, I decided to emboss it to give it some texture, and I'm glad I did try it out (even though I was terrified of stuffing it up) because I really love the look of it. The colours just blend beautifully.

To finish off the heart I punched a hole in the top and added some purple organza ribbon- just to give it that something extra special.

 

It was another simple card to make that required more patience than it did brain-power.

Materials used:

Cardstock: Kaisercard in Buttercup (29cm x 14.7cm), Kaisercard in Candy (12.7cm x 13cm), Kaisercard in Spearmint (9.8cm x 9.8cm) Kaisercard in Coconut

 

Paper: pastel pink, purple, blue, yellow & green

 

Other: double sided tape, mounting squares, purple organza ribbon, hole punch, small heart paper punch, Mod Podge, Cuttlebug machine, Divine Swirls embossing folder.
